Social Security Disability Supplemental Security Income

Experienced Social Security Disability Representation in Ohio

When a disease, condition, illness or injury is so disabling that a person cannot work, Social Security Disability Insurance/Supplemental Security Income (SSDI/SSI) benefits can provide much needed income and medical care. If you have worked at least 20 calendar quarters in the preceding 10 years, you may qualify for Social Security Disability Insurance. If you do not have the work credits for SSDI, you may apply for Supplemental Security Income. Our Social Security Disability attorneys can help you determine which program is appropriate for you.

Do You Qualify for Benefits?

You may qualify for Social Security Disability if you suffer from a severe physical or mental impairment which makes you unable to work at your past employment and you lack the residual functional capacity to work in any other job. You may also be disabled if you meet or equal one of Social Security's 14 categories of medical or psychological impairments (The Listings) or if, by virtue of your age, education, impairments and work history, you satisfy the Social Security Disability "Grids."

The Social Security Administration (SSA) has 14 categories of physical and mental impairments that qualify for benefits. Our lawyers can assist you with disorders, illnesses, conditions and disabling injuries from all categories, including:

  • Back injuries (Listing 1.00)
  • Joint dysfunction (Listing 1.00)
  • Arthritis (Listing 14.00)
  • Diabetes (Listing 9.00)
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Cancer (Listing 13.00)
  • Kidney failure (Listing 6.00)
  • Heart disease (Listing 4.00)
  • Alzheimer's disease
  • Depression, bipolar disorder and PTSD (Listing 12.00)
  • Parkinson's disease (Listing 11.00)
  • Respiratory system disorders (Listing 3.00)
  • Neurological system disorders (Listing 11.00)

Many SSDI/SSI applications are denied because they do not contain necessary medical evidence. You must prove not only that you have severe impairment, illness or injury, but that it prevents you from working in substantial gainful employment for 12 months or more. You will need to submit specific medical test results, diagnoses, prognoses and physician observations of your condition.

With more than 50 years of combined personal injury and disability law experience, the lawyers at Rubin Guttman & Associates, L.P.A., have gained substantial medical knowledge. In addition, the firm has a physician on retainer as well as a nurse medical consultant on staff. We will guide you to have the necessary medical treatment and submit the appropriate medical evidence to support your application.

★★★★★
Without question, the attorneys at Rubin Guttman & Associates, L.P.A. did an exemplary job in settling my claim with the manufacturer of the prescription medication that led to my bladder cancer. It was clearly a long-shot that unexpectedly came through with a surprisingly large settlement. I would highly recommend this firm to anyone in need of legal services. William H.

★★★★★
I had occasion to use Rubin Guttman's services, in connection with obtaining coverage from a well-known life insurance company, that ended with a completely satisfactory outcome for me. I cannot rave enough about the professionalism and quality of the service which I received from Rubin. They were as good or better as any of the major law firms NITA whom I have had previous experience. Jerry Rothchild
